1HSB991 – Toyota Prado Plonker

Perth, Australia

8 Feb, 2026 - 1 day ago - on The Esplanade

Female driver backs out across both lanes a traffic - didn't even see us until moving forward.

NOTE: In Western Australia, it is not explicitly illegal to reverse across lanes, but it is highly restricted by the requirement to drive safely and give way to all traffic. Reversing must not be done recklessly, into, or on a motorway, and you must ensure there is enough space to do so safely.

Duty to Give Way: A reversing vehicle must give way to all other traffic (cars, pedestrians, and cyclists).

Safety Requirements: Reversing into a main road or across multiple lanes is dangerous and can lead to fines if it forces other drivers to take evasive action.

Proper Technique: It is considered much safer to perform a 3-point turn on a minor road rather than reversing across lanes onto a major road.

Reversing from a driveway or side street across traffic lanes often results in the reversing driver being held responsible for any accidents.
