Confrontation after potential collision incident
31 Dec, 2025 - 1 month ago - on Koona Street This video shows the actions of a driver who angrily confronted me after I complained that he was in danger of colliding with me on Koona St, Albion Park Rail, NSW, just before midday on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2025).
The driver had started to drive the vehicle away from a parked position without properly checking behind to see if there were other road users coming from behind. I was planning to ride onto a ramp from the gutter in front of his vehicle to a path that goes over Slaters Bridge (a footbridge that crosses a creek called Horsley Inlet).
It later emerged that the driver’s excuse for not seeing that I was coming from behind his vehicle was a ‘blind spot’ in his rear vision mirror ! (which of course meant that he had not checked over his right shoulder before starting to drive his vehicle away). The driver appeared to be affronted about a road cyclist pointing out his driving error.
Needless to say, cyclists (or any road users) should not be subjected this kind of behaviour for merely drawing attention to action by a driver who was potentially causing a collision.
