P for Passing on the Inside

Approaching the intersection of Mona Vale Rd and Link Rd, the lights turned red so I stopped. As I was stopping I heard a vehicle accelerate fast behind me and stopped. This car had pulled out of the middle lane into the left lane quite fast. When the lights turned green I started riding straight on Mona Vale rd in the left lane, heard the car accelerate again and they impatiently undertook me on the inside of the lane veering into the pedestrian section of the intersection.
